Laboratory Information Management

The LIMS that keeps every sample traceable, end to end

Register, test, review and release samples in one configurable system. HDLIMS enforces your specifications and SOPs as work happens, so results are right the first time and defensible for years.

Overview

The system of record for your laboratory

Every lab runs on the same backbone: a sample arrives, the right tests are assigned, analysts generate results, reviewers approve them and someone downstream needs a decision. When that backbone is spread across paper, spreadsheets and disconnected tools, throughput suffers and every audit becomes an archaeology project.

HDLIMS LIMS models the full sample lifecycle on a single data model shared with our ELN, LES and SDMS. Sample types, workflows, specifications and reports are configured, not coded, so your lab can adapt to new products, methods and regulations without a development project or re-validating the whole system.

What changes for your lab

Faster release decisions

Automated limit checks and review by exception remove the manual reconciliation that delays dispositions.

Fewer data integrity risks

Eliminating transcription, shared accounts and uncontrolled spreadsheets closes the gaps inspectors look for first.

Lower cost of change

New products, methods and sites are configured and validated incrementally, not delivered as custom code.

Capabilities

Core LIMS capabilities

Sample registration and labeling

Single, batch and template-based login, ERP-triggered creation, barcode and RFID labels, and receipt checks with condition recording.

Tests, methods and analytes

Versioned methods with analyte lists, calculations, rounding rules and replicate handling, reused across products and sites.

Specifications and limits

Multi-level and market-specific specifications evaluated at result entry, with automatic OOS and OOT flagging.

Workload planning

Assign work by analyst competence and instrument availability; track backlog and turnaround time against targets.

Review and approval

Configurable multi-level review, review by exception and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant electronic signatures.

Reports and certificates

Template-driven CoAs and test reports, generated from approved data and distributed automatically to customers or ERP.

Sample lifecycle

From login to disposal, nothing goes untracked

Each sample carries its full history: who received it, where it is stored, which aliquots were taken, what was tested and why it was approved or rejected.

  • Chain of custody with storage location tracking down to the shelf position
  • Parent–child relationships for aliquots, composites and derived samples
  • Status gating that prevents release until every required test is approved
  • Retention, re-test and disposal rules applied automatically

Configuration, not code

Model your lab without a development project

Lab administrators define sample types, fields, workflows and business rules in a visual designer. Configuration is versioned and promoted between environments like software.

  • Visual workflow designer with conditional steps and approvals
  • Configuration packages promoted from development to validation to production
  • Side-by-side comparison reports to support change control
  • Upgrades that preserve your configuration, with no custom code to re-test

Defensible results

Results you can stand behind in any audit

Calculations run in the system, instrument values arrive without transcription, and every change is captured with who, what, when and why.

  • Secure, computer-generated, time-stamped audit trails that cannot be disabled
  • Reason-for-change prompts and configurable signature meanings
  • Direct instrument capture through the HDLIMS SDMS and integration agents
  • Read-only legacy data views to keep historical records accessible

FAQ

LIMS: frequently asked questions

What is a LIMS?
A laboratory information management system (LIMS) is software that manages samples, tests, results and associated data across the lab workflow. It replaces paper and spreadsheets with a controlled, auditable system of record. Read our LIMS vs. ELN vs. LES vs. SDMS explainer for how it relates to other lab systems.
Is HDLIMS LIMS configurable without programming?
Yes. Sample types, fields, workflows, specifications, calculations, labels and report templates are configured through administration tools. Configuration is versioned and can be promoted between environments under change control.
Can HDLIMS manage multiple labs and sites?
Yes. A single HDLIMS tenant can host multiple sites and labs with shared global master data (for example, methods and specifications) and site-specific configuration, permissions and reporting.
How long does a LIMS implementation take?
It depends on scope, number of sites and integrations. We implement in phases, typically starting with one lab and a core workflow, and expand from there. See our implementation approach for details.
